Cleveland slaps Rio Rancho around
Cleveland beat Rio Rancho in three sets, 25-19, 25-22, 25-20, on Tuesday. Marissa Calvillo had 12 kills and 2 aces alongside the 30 assists from Jordan Bruere. Cleveland is gaining some steam as the season progresses, and is looking more and more like a legitimate contender. Kudos to coach Wallis and the team for the progress they’ve made.

Updates from Chaves County Sports Report on the Roswell/Carlsbad, Artesia/Goddard and Lake Arthur/Vaughn matches.
Favorite quote from the article:
“It wasn’t that Artesia did anything spectacular to us. We just played better the first game. We were blocking. We were hitting. We had good serves and stuff and the second game we weren’t doing much of anything.”
A dominating win, in my book, is pretty spectacular.

Gadsden drops set to Cruces; wins match
The Gadsden Panthers were able to beat Las Cruces 25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, in spite of a less-than-perfect evening. Nathalie Castellanos had 20 kills on the night.
Las Cruces looked much more aggressive, and should be ready to return the favor of a loss to Mayfield, when they meet on Saturday.
Nathalie Castellanos commits to NMSU
Speaking of Castellanos, the Las Cruces Sun-News ran a story about her decisions to commit to NMSU. Read about it here.
Keeping up: Mayfield slay the Knights
While it appears the focus is on Gadsden, Mayfield should keep their eyes on the immediate prize: sweeping Cruces. Back to Mayfield-Oñate, the win 25-14, 25-17, 25-23, puts the mighty Trojans at 7-9.

Whoops, I did it again
Forgot to include the link to the story about the Tularosa/Lordsburg game that went down on Saturday. Not sure about the “new offense” being referred to, but it seems pretty exciting. Read about Tulie in the Alamogordo Daily News.
