La Cueva Wins Metro
Congrats to the La Cueva Bears for the big win over the St. Pius Sartans (21-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-14) on Saturday, to win the 2011 APS Metro Championship. Of note is Chloe Crappell’s performance at setter–with Brandi Torr out for the weekend, Crappell (a sophomore) stood in and did a fantastic job helping lead the Bears to victory. OH Julia Warren collected 34 kills on the night.
La Cueva now stands at 5-0 and face West Mesa on Tuesday evening.
St. Pius are at 4-1 and face another 5A powerhouse, Rio Rancho, tonight at 6:30.
Artesia, Rio Rancho, Durango battle it out
Artesia Bulldogs, the Rio Rancho Rams and Durango Demons (CO) battled each other this weekend at Rio Rancho.
The Lady Bulldogs walked away 2-0, defeating both the Rams and Demons, 3-2 in each match. Rio Rancho defeated the Demons in 3 (25-16, 25-13, 25-23).
Next up for Rio Rancho is St. Pius, at Rio Rancho, tonight at 6:30.
Artesia travels to Hobbs on Thursday.
