UNM receives votes in AVCA poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of New Mexico Volleyball team has received votes in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll that was released Monday afternoon.
New Mexico received a total of nine votes ahead of UT San Antonio. Four of the Lobos’ 2014 opponents were recognized in the poll with the tough Texas Longhorns ranking second. Hawai’i is ranked 17th in front of Colorado State at 18th. Oregon was not in the top 25 but was at the top of receiving votes. The next poll will be September 1.
Last season the Lobos finished with a 24-7 record and 68 RPI. They finished second in the Mountain West with a 14-6 record. The Lobos return two-time All-American Chantale Riddle and MW Freshman of the Year Julia Warren.
The Lobos start the season off on August 29 with a match against Seattle U at 1:30 p.m. before taking on preseason ranked Texas. The following weekend, the Lobos will play in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic that will feature Hawai’i, St. John’s and Oregon.
