The Franklin Cougars were able to get over Tuesday’s 3-1 loss to their archrival, Coronado, to win the Margaret Hussmann Tournament in four sets, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-9.
It was also a very strong performance from the New Mexico teams, with the usual suspects – Las Cruces and Centennial – looking strong this early in the season and progressing to the championship bracket.
Las Cruces got the wins over El Paso and Eastwood, falling 3-0 (17, 15, 18) to Franklin in the semi-final.
Centennial also faired well, defeating both El Paso and Canutillo in straight sets.
