Hussmann Tournament of Champions Pools set
If you’re looking for some high-level prep volleyball action, the Hussmann Tournament of Champions in El Paso, Texas in is the place to be. Hosted by the Franklin Lady Cougars from August 31 through September 1, some of the top teams in New Mexico and El Paso will participate in the two day event.
A couple of notable observations:
- The volleyball season in Texas has been in full swing for 3 weeks, while NM teams have had less than a week. This usually plays in the less-than-stellar outings for NM teams
- El Paso Coronado (another EP powerhouse) is not participating for first time since the tournament’s inception
- Cleveland returns to the Sun City with new coach Brian Ainsworth and one of the two best hitters in the state, Cassie House
- Las Cruces’ 5 set win over Eastwood (EP Time’s #2 pre-season pick) on Tuesday certainly lends some legitimacy to the strength of the Bulldawg squad this year
