Cleveland sweeps Oñate
After a slow start, the Storm swept the Oñate Knights in three sets, 26-24, 25-11, 25-17. Sara Hattis racked up 11 kills and three blocks. Courtney Lawson earned eight kills and four aces, while Jordan Bruere pitched in with 30 assists.
Rosen gets mention in El Paso Times
Gadsden and coach Al Rosen got a mention, albeit a brief one, in the “Meet the Preps” blog run by the El Paso Times. Felix Chavez, is an Albuquerque native (St. Pius grad), covered preps for many years with the Sun-News and has a good knowledge of the New Mexico prep scene, especially up north. I think it’s great to see some NM border-area teams get some recognition in the Times.
Tough weekend for the Aggies
The Aggies went 1-2 over the weekend at the LSU Tiger Classic, and lost OH Stephanie Ziegler to a broken leg. The Ags rebounded to win its match against Rice, but were swept by UNC. Although losing to No. 21 ranked LSU, NMSU ended the tournament on a up note, taking the Tigers to five sets, 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 15-25, 15-17.
