St. Pius X thrashes Sandia

St. Pius had little problem defeating a depleted Sandia team, 25-16, 25-14, 25-17. After colliding at last week’s Albuquerque Academy game, two of the Lady Matadors had take the mandatory week off for possible concussion. Look for Sandia to try to bounce back against Cibola on Thursday.

The Lady Sartans have a big challenge ahead as they take on district foe Albuquerque Academy next Tuesday, October 2. This match features No 1. St. Pius and the No. 2 Chargers in a battle for the best 4A program in the state.

Mayfield tops Las Cruces in four

The Lady Trojans had issues at the service line on Tuesday night;  lucky for them Las Cruces was just a little more inconsistent. A combined total of 36 service errors were committed by the teams (Mayfield 17, Las Cruces 19)  in Mayfield’s win, 21-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-18.

Impressive in the win was the front row defense; Allyson Lucht, Marcela Hanroit and Callie Chambers all got better as the match progressed.

Tularosa coming home

With construction complete in their home gym, The Lady Cats get to practice in their own pad. Having practiced in the elementary gym over the summer, playing in their own gym will be one less distraction. All this just in time for Carli Jo Brill to make her return from a concussion suffered in Roswell several weeks back.

Tulie hosts Tatum tomorrow, at 5:30 PM, and begins district play next Thursday at Cloudcroft.
